A Brief History

In 1978 Ed Fink founded Wood Technology, Inc. after acting as V.P. and hardware specialist for 18 years with another firm. Before all the "big" European hardware companies came to America, Ed was the guy introducing the 32mm system and European concealed hinges to our industry. In fact when one of the "big" German firms decided to begin its operations in the US, Ed was hand-picked to run the company. He declined the offer and instead decided to start from scratch; a true American entrepreneur.

In 1989 after moving from New Jersey to Virginia in a series of successive growth moves, the company purchased several acres of land just outside of beautiful Chapel Hill, NC. It is here among the fields, forests and rivers that we inventory a complete range of functional and decorative hardware which is marketed worldwide.

From the start we have been dedicated to bringing new and innovative hardware products to our industry. In 2004 Wood Technology, Inc. won the coveted IWF Challengers Award for our Evolve Silent-Close Hinge. Since then we have introduced our Soft-Touch Self-Opening Hinges, Electric Height Adjustable Desks, and our very own Whisper-Ride Electric Flat Screen TV lift. As a leader in the field of hardware Wood Technology, Inc. is often call upon by major publications to provide insight into emerging trends in our industry.
